Delete your account

This page explains how customers, riders, and delivery partners using Laundry Guy (via Laundry Guy Africa) can request deletion of their account and related personal data. The same general steps apply whether you use our customer app or rider app.

How to request account deletion

  1. Open the Laundry Guy app on your device (customer app or rider app, as applicable) and sign in.
  2. Go to your account or profile area (often labelled Settings or Account).
  3. Choose Delete account (or equivalent). You may be asked to confirm and to select a reason for leaving (for example: no longer needed, privacy concerns, or other options shown in the app).
  4. Complete the in-app steps. When deletion succeeds, you will be signed out and your account will be closed according to our retention rules below.

If you cannot access the app or run into errors, email [email protected] from the address linked to your account, with the subject line Laundry Guy account deletion (you may add "customer" or "rider" in the body so we route the request quickly), and we will help you verify ownership and process the request.

What we delete and what we may keep

After you delete your Laundry Guy account through the app (or after we complete a verified email request), we remove or anonymise personal data tied to your profile where we are not required to keep it by law.

  • Typically removed or anonymised: account profile (name, email, phone, profile details); for customers, saved addresses where no longer needed; for riders, app preferences tied to your identity, availability settings, and vehicle or verification details where we are not required to keep them; and messages or support content that does not need to be kept for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.
  • May be retained for a limited period: certain order, delivery, and payment or payout records where the law requires us to keep business, financial, or audit trails (often up to several years, depending on jurisdiction). This can include customer order history and rider-associated delivery or payout records for accounting and tax purposes. Where retained, data is restricted to compliance purposes and not used for marketing.
  • Backups: copies in secure backups may persist for a short technical window and are then overwritten according to our backup cycle.

Full detail on categories of data, legal bases, and retention is in our Privacy Policy.
